Student-athlete Baily Tom and President Arthur Snyder of Indiana Tech visit Ms. Martin's third-graders at Imagine School on Broadway to Talk With Them on Preparing for College
President Snyder and Baily Tom spoke with students about student life on campus, the career paths that they offer, and sports opportunities at Indiana Tech. Dr. Snyder stressed how important it is to start now on preparing for college. Students were able to ask both Dr. Snyder and Baily questions about their universities. Each student received a t-shirt, which has the Indiana Tech logo on the front and the words "Future Warrior" on the back. The students also received Indiana Tech pins for their shirts. Thank you!
Indiana Tech has also arranged for other individuals from the university to come to our classroom each month. Then, in May, we are scheduling a date and time that all of our third grade students can visit campus and spend a day in the life of a college student!
"This really has been a great opportunity for our students to experience. I am grateful for the partnership that Indiana Tech has with my classroom."--Krystle Martin, 3rd Grade Teacher at Imagine Broadway

“Row, Row, Row Your Boat” can be a pretty straightforward children’s song.
But sung as a canon, it can be a lot more complicated.
A group of third-graders at Imagine on Broadway spent part of Thursday’s music class first learning “Row, Row, Row, Your Boat” and then dividing into groups and reciting it as different intervals.
At first, the groups sounded strong and distinct, but then slowly the voices began to mesh.
“You came through at the right time, but you weren’t confident,” music instructor Richard Bicknase said.
Imagine on Broadway doesn’t have an official music class. So Bicknase, a volunteer with Holy Cross Church Lutheran Church Backyard Missionary, tries to make up the difference.
Each week, Bicknase spends 20 minutes with all children in the school, going over things like reading music, pitch notation and sound elements.
“They are so excited to have the chance to study music in the classroom,” third-grade teacher Krystle Martin said. “They love the opportunity to sing and do things they haven’t had the opportunity to do.”
